Back in....This week we are mostly listening to the amazing Mulatu Astatke with his unique afro jazz compositions.....French issued lp from 2002 of recordings between 1969 & 1974

Few copies back in...Arthur Russell is an underground music legend , died in 1992 of AIDS , and his music has been criminally hard to get hold off sending collectors and djs crazy over the last 5 years particularly as his records go for 100+ this is a beautiful collection of his avant/disco productions, ranging from the better know disco classics "go bang" and "is
it all over my face" to the weirder "wax the van " and "schoolbell/treehouse" and to the just absolutley amazing (and up till now

"Welcome To The Club" gets twisted and turned out - not your standard edit - bit of a Ron Hardy homage but also got that nu-edit vibe (Revenge/Mark E) - Possibly caus its from USA so a blending of styles! Flip for the Disco 2000 thumper and the special bonus cut "10" -Matador edit which is a real deep slow gem - check it out.

You think know this lp? Listen again , it really is incredible , had it on in the office for the first time in a couple of years and forgot how amazing it is - Not got much Dilla and might wander what the fuss is about? - this is a great place to start - New unused copies with onc small tear in top spine hence bargain price.

Part of the Salsoul reissue series by Sussd - now long deleted /gone bust so not to be represses - found a few in the office here - Special DK edits of these classics , First Choice version is very different with an accapella style beginning

Classic old school rap with the famous Jean-Michel Basquiat cover art (unfortunately these ones dont comes with the poster although they are much cheaper) It almost puts you in a trance as its plays and goes on and on

Another beautifully packaged Honest Jons comp - with full pictures and sleeve notes charting another part of world music history - listen learn and enjoy!

Back in..Such a great record - one of our fav obscure re-issues in last few yrs.Newly unearthed (by KON & AMIR) boogie funk out of Virginia, early-1980s, bass/synth-led monster given huge accolades in Wax Poetics and we can see why - positive vocals and a wicked groove
